Speaking of call ups, I just read that Alex Song has been called up for Cameroon's next match, even though he announced his international retirement last year. The match is on 26th March, two days before Noble's testimonial.

It just constantly annoys me that England managers always try to pick the best XI individuals. It's how we ended up with ridiculous scenarios like a mudfuejd 4 if scholes, Gerrard, Lampard and beckham with schokes on the left
You need good partnerships across the pitch. Centre backs who get each other (Rio and Terry were always shit together yet carragher, consistently superb for Liverpool at the same time, was only used at fucking left back), fullbacks and wingers who know how to overlap and help/cover for each other, a midfield pairing that complement each other. You don't want the best XI players you want to create the best team. And that will only come out if players are playing regularly hit their clubs and the manager tries them out. Woy wasted the easiest group imaginable in qualifying. He called downing up when he was brilliant in the hike for us and shoved him in the wing. Vardy should've been the first name on the sheet with the form he was in, yet he played him out wide as s sub. Yet Rooney, Wilshere, the Ox, Walcott, Henderson etc are undroppable when fit.
It's so boring to watch, so predictable. I don't even buy it that international football us even that tough most of the time - it's hard because you're potentially fielding a lot of unfamiliar players together but would noble,Cresswell, Tomkins, drinkwater etc really struggle against Slovenia when they excel against Arsenal man city and Chelsea?

To be honest I'd be happy for our players to have the summer off rather than just make the squad as they obviously wouldn't be starting any games under Hodgson who seems to have his favourites set in the team.
No matter how shit they were in Brazil in 2014.
Because they've won some qualifiers against the Isle of Man & East Gibraltar they are world beaters again.
Left back is a good example.
Baines was abysmal in Brazil, Gibbs can't get in Arsenal's best team. And even when he looks beyond that he lands on Plastic Bertrand of Southampton
